This site is well constructed and flashy. But aside from the structurally sound HTML and style sheet, it contains incidental information about building an arcade cabinet - information that other sites don't typically offer (at least during the time of publication, 2004).
My cabinet is scratch-built out of 5/8" particle board. It uses a pII HP laptop running WinME and Mame32 GUI. For video it uses a 21" tv that I bought at a thrift store.
Click on the links to the left to see how it was built.
Special thanks to these fine sites!!!
Russ Prince's MAME Cabinet A fantastic example of a homemade cabinet. Filled with details and pictures.
Stealthboy's MAME Cabinet Another excellent project by Michael Sherman. Site features pictures, instructions and a day-by-day blogstyle design.
2008 Update!!
The Zoom Machine is no more! I moved into an apartment in Bellingham.
The Control Panel followed me for a while,
but i had to destroy the cab. Now i don't
even have the CP. I used the keyboard
encoder to operate an amazing, art deco,
wall-mounted mp3 juke box. If i ever get
the time i will make a page for the juke.
Oh, and i had to sell the pinball machine to
a guy in san francisco to pay for winter
quarter my senior year. But hey, now i
have a degree. And Canoe's father has a
pinbot thay he never plays. Someday it
shall be mine. Oh, yes!!11 Hahahaha...1111
